Max was waiting for Terry as she said she was; in her bedroom, tapping away at her computer with one hand, swirling a santa hat around a finger on the other hand.

There were a handful of small, wrapped presents sitting on her desk next to her.

Today, the cave was remarkably empty. Bruce Wayne had exhausted his resources in Gotham in the hunt for Terry and had gone on a short trip to Metropolis to try his luck there. Enzan was present, and in his uniform, but he had exhausted his own method of hunting - trolling the Nexus - and could be found curled up in a chair, sleeping.

Max was also in the cave, searching. True, Bruce Wayne's network and resources were amazing, and capable of things Max could hardly dream of with her little laptop. But he didn't have her mind, and she was hoping that key difference could help in finding Terry.

It was a slim hope, but it was there. Leaving her computer sitting next to the console for a second, and after pausing to ruffle Enzan's hair - he was the cutest little bird when sleeping - she headed up the stairs to grab a snack.

Leaving the cave back to its remarkable emptiness.

Max is chilling today, room throbbing with the latest hit on the internet, hands and eyes glued to her computer. Her phone is wired to shut things down if she gets a call, though.

Changeling's clue had been a strange one - no fault of his, of course, but the Scent of Mayo? Really? -  but eventually, somehow, they managed to find what appeared to be it: an old, rundown sandwich shop, abandoned for years, along with most of the rest of the street.

And in being rundown and abandoned, it also looked completely unguarded. And easy target. Max knew better than to believe that.

"Now we're talking," she said, opening the channel to Tim, Gerald, and Shard. As she talked, she typed, sending the location coordinates as she went. "The old man's got a solid location I'm sending it to you guys now. As far as we know, they're keeping Enzan in there, but be careful. That's probably not all they've got stashed away there. And..."

Sigh. This would be so much easier to deal with if she could be more helpful. "Good luck."

Terry was missing. Robin had disappeared shortly after his distress call. Bruce had buried himself into finding both of them, calling her when he had something, shooting down her leads faster than she was able to shoot down his.

And Max was running out of options. She couldn't trace either of them through her computer work. All connections involving Mad Stan had lead to dead ends. There was nothing she could do.

How did you mount a rescue when you didn't know where to start?

She chewed on her lip as she stared at her screen. This was pointless.

It was time to try the Nexus.

Sometimes it got to the point where you had to find things out your own way. Max had tried to mind her own business as best she could, but sometimes there was just no helping it.

So she finally picked up the phone and dialed.

"Hey, Dana? It's Max."

This doesn't sound good.

Is there anything useful I could do, or am I enternally stuck in the 'last to know' category?

Things to do:

1. Skip graduation. Who needs it, anyway?
2. Check out that Nexus place more. Looks like fun.
3. Hack something. I need the entertainment.

Update: That? Was weird.
